Have you opened your home to foster a sibling group? You may be eligible to apply for a financial award through the
Laura Walker Foundation.
The Laura Walker Foundation was formed as a way to support those who open their homes to ensure that brothers and sisters are not separated from each other as a result of their involvement with the foster care system.
Through the Laura Walker Foundation, we hope to increase the number of homes that are available to these sibling groups, so that the children in these situations are not faced with the additional trauma of being separated from each other when moved to foster care.
Laura Walker was taken from this earth at the young age of 33, at the hands of domestic violence. As a result, her four children, ages 14, 13, 12, and 7, were separated from each other, as there was not a home willing to take all four of them in. Her children not only grieved the loss of their mother, but were forced to face the additional suffering of losing their siblings. For that reason, keeping siblings together is close to our hearts, and that is why we named this foundation in her honor: the Laura Walker Foundation.

Imagine having to leave home with nothing but the clothes on your back. Many foster children arrive in new homes with few personal items. Help make a difference by donating supplies for foster care siblings.
Suggestions: toiletries, stuffed animals, night lights, school supplies, new clothes, blankets, wash cloths, towels, luggage, toys, gift cards, games, brushes, journals

We are fundraising to open a unique foster home where siblings entering the foster care system can remain together. Recognizing the profound importance of sibling bonds, our home will offer these children a place to find comfort, continuity, and support as they face the difficult realities of foster care.
